…Baby One More Time ist der Titel des Debütalbums der US-amerikanischen Sängerin Britney Spears, die sich damit musikalisch im Pop-, Pop/Rock- und Dancebereich bewegt. Es ist mit 14 Millionen verkauften Einheiten[1], das meistverkaufte Debütalbum einer Künstlerin, das je in den USA erschien und schuf die Grundlage für ihren Status als Superstar noch im Jahr der Veröffentlichung.

Das Album stand 51 Wochen in den Top Ten der Billboard Charts, 60 Wochen in den Top Twenty und über zwei Jahre in den Billboard 200. Das Album, seine Texte und die Musikvideos unterstützten das typische Jungfrauen-Image von Spears der späten 90er. Der Titelsong brachte es zum Nummer-1-Hit in den USA, die anderen brachten es unter den Top 10 oder Top 20 Hits.

Das Album wurde zunächst als Promo-Kassette im Januar 1998 mit fünf Schnipseln von Demo-Songs veröffentlicht. Die Kassette hatte dasselbe Cover, das auch später für das Single-Booklet "...Baby One More Time" ausgewählt wurde. Die australische Veröffentlichung zeigte allerdings Spears betend in einem weißen Kleid. Ursprünglich sollte das Album nur „Britney Spears“ heißen, aber wegen des Erfolgs des Titelstücks benannte man auf Grund des Wiedererkennungsfaktors schließlich nach diesem.

Obwohl die Kritiken nicht überwältigend waren, wurde das Album ein großer Erfolg. Es erreichte sowohl in den USA als auch in Kanada auf Anhieb Platz 1, später auch in anderen Staaten. Es erreichte 14 mal Platin-Status [2]. Es ist das meistverkaufte Album, das an Teenagers in den USA und weltweit je verkauft wurde. Spears schrieb auch Geschichte, weil sie die erste weibliche Künstlerin war, deren Album als auch die Single-Auskopplung gleichzeitig Platz 1 erreichte. .[3]

In Frankreich blieb das Album 38 Wochen in den Charts und erreichte dort Platz 4. [4] Es wurde mehr als 545.000 Mal verkauft[5] und wurde zweimal mit Platin ausgezeichnet.[6]. In England debütierte das Album als Nummer 2, blieb ein Jahr in den Charts und wurde viermal mit Platin ausgezeichnet. [7].

Von den Album wurden noch 2007 25 Millionen Stück weltweit verkauft[8][9][10]. Insgesamt ist es das 2 bestverkaufte Album in den USA aller Zeiten. .[11]
