David Ray Griffin (2006)

David Ray Griffin (* 8. August 1939) ist ein emeritierter US-amerikanischer Professor für Religionsphilosophie und Theologie. Zusammen mit John B. Cobb, Jr. wird er als einer der fundamentalen Denker in der Prozesstheologie betrachtet und gilt als und einer ihrer führenden gegenwärtigen Vertreter.

Seit wenigen Jahren präsentiert Griffin in zahlreichen Schriften Verschwörungstheorien zum 11. September 2001 und wurde damit zu einem Hauptvertreter des 9/11 Truth Movement.

Griffin wuchs in Oregon auf und studierte am Northwest Christian College und an der Universität von Oregon Theologie. An der Claremont Graduate University promovierte er 1979 zum Doktor der Philosophie (Dr. phil.). Er unterrichtete Theologie und asiatische Religionen an der University of Dayton. 1973 ging er zurück nach Claremont, um das Center for Process Studies mitzugründen. 1983 gründete Griffin das Center for a Postmodern World in Santa Barbara und wurde Herausgeber SUNY-Reihe Constructive Postmodern Philosophy zwischen 1987 und 2004. David Ray Griffin lebt seit langer Zeit in Santa Barbara und ist aktuell Co-Direktor des Center for Process Studies

Vertreter von Verschwörungstheorien zum 11. September 2001

Nach den Anschlägen des 11. September 2001 plante Griffin nach eigenen Angaben eine Buchveröffentlichung zum Thema der US-Außenpolitik im 20. Jahrhundert. Bei den Recherchen dazu habe er die Terroranschläge am 11. September 2001 als Reaktion auf einen US-Imperialismus gedeutet und gewusst, dass „US-Regierungen bereits mehrmals Beweise gefälscht hatten, um in den Krieg zu ziehen“, aber bis 2003 die Beweise für deren Täter zunächst nicht geprüft.

Schriften von Paul Thompson und Nafeez Ahmed hätten ihn überzeugt, es müsse einzelne Mittäter in den USA bei diesen Anschlägen gegeben haben. Er trat daher 2004 der 9/11-Truth-Bewegung bei und unterstützte deren Forderung nach einer neuen, regierungsunabhängigen Untersuchung der Ereignisse am 11. September 2001, von nun an auch mit zahlreichen eigenen Buchveröffentlichungen.
