Wolframcarbid[Quelltext bearbeiten]
In den meisten Quellen ist von Wolframcarbid die Rede, das als Neutronenreflektor verwendet wurde und Daghlian aus der Hand glitt. Eine Quelle (H. C. Paxton: Criticality – The Fine Line of Control. In: Los Alamos Science Winter/Spring 1984) scheibt allerdings auf Seite 153:
„It occurred when a heavy uranium block slipped from Daghlian's hand onto a near-critical assembly consisting of a plutonium ball and a natural uranium reflector.“
