<!-- Note to editors: in some cases the standard reference for a point is
not used because the editor here has not been able to access it. -->
<!-- Note regarding reference style: the Harv class of templates concatenates
each supplied element (name1|name2|...|year) to create the CITEREF.
On the other hand, 'citation' concatenates _all_ last names + the entire
'coauthors' string + year. So, for consistency in referencing citations of
more than two authors (and special cases): use an explicit CITEREF -->

The Olympic-Wallowa lineament (OWL) - first noted by cartographer Erwin Raisz in 1945 [1] on a relief map of the continental United States - is a physiographic feature in the state of Washington (northwestern U.S.) running approximately from the town of Port Angeles), on the Olympic Penninsula to the Wallowa Mountains of northeastern Oregon.

Note on sources: Most of these references are from the scientific literature. Many USGS publications can be found on the web site, and most of the Washington State geological publications cited here can be found at the web site. The Geological Society of America has made articles from the GSA Bulletin available free at the web site. For most other journals only the abstracts of articles are available for free. Some articles are posted on-line by the authors. For the rest recourse must be made to a university library, or ask your local libary about inter-library loan.

[1] has many excellent articles written by professionals, usually summarizing scientific work, and intelligible to outsiders.

Note: some catalogs mis-identify this item as edited by K. A. Bergstrom. Also, another item with the same editor, title, and year (report SD-BWI-TI-111, 175p.) is actually the rough-draft of this item.
