Description: The Bödenseen are three small mountain lakes in the municipality of Sexten in South Tyrol.

They lie in a wide alpine hollow (Bödenalm) in the valley head of the Altensteintal.
The entire lake basin lies in impermeable Raibl layers, which have led to the formation of water accumulation.
The lower (eastern) lake (2207 m above sea level) lies in a boulder-car and has stony shores. It is 160 meters long, 100 meters wide and 2 to 3 meters deep.
The upper (western) lake (2335 m above sea level) lies in green alpine pastures and is a bit marshy in places, with cottongrass on the shore. It is actually two lakes connected by a small stream. Both are only 2 to 3 m deep.
They are named after the alp that fills a wide ground.
The area of the lake area is about 40,000 m².
