Building Bridges between Free Knowledge Communities as a project strives to bring Wikipedians and Wikimedians from Germany and Israel together to foster shared learning. Its goal is to enrich the German and Hebrew Wikipedias and to promote future collaborations between the two communities.
To achieve this, free knowledge volunteers from the german and israeli Wikimedia communities will conduct an exchange program, consisting of two five-day visits in Berlin and Tel Aviv. In order to:
- build collaborative relationships,
- learn about the respective volunteer cultures, and
- produce shared knowledge for the respective Wikipedias.
During each visit the Wikipedians will hear lectures from experts, share knowledge and write articles in Wikipedia.

Who can participate?
- Active contributors to Wikimedia projects, who have an interest in German, Israeli, and German-Israeli topics.
- Due to foundation funding-terms participants must be between 18 and 40 years old. (Older participants can ask their local Wikimedia chapter for individual funding.)
- Participants must be able to communicate fluently in English.
- Participants must contribute to the planning/organization of community activities during the visits, like i. e. edit-a-thons, photo excursions, lectures, etc.

The project will be presented to the German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation's board of trustees by the end of May.
If the proposal is accepted, we are planning the first exchange, Israeli volunteers coming to Berlin, in the first week of August.
A time in which both Israel and Germany have (school)holidays.
Ideas[Quelltext bearbeiten]
Participants are invited to contribute their ideas on what to to during the visits. Ideally small teams will take responsibility for preparing and organizing community activities in Berlin and Tel Aviv. Feel free to add your ideas and to comment on the talk page!
