Hassan Fathy
Hassan Fathy (arabisch حسن فتحي, DMG Ḥasan Fatḥī, * 23. März 1900 in Alexandria, Sultanat Ägypten; † 30. November 1989 in Kairo) war ein ägyptischer Architekt.
Fathy wurde berühmt für seine Lehmziegelhäuser, die traditionelle Bautechniken wie das nubische Gewölbe aufgreifen und mit geringsten Mitteln gebaut werden können.
Er war Professor an der Faculty of Fine Arts in Kairo.
Fathy bekam 1980 als erster den Right Livelihood Award ("...for saving and adapting traditional knowledge and practices in building and construction for and with the poor"), sowie im selben Jahr den Balzan-Preis für Architektur und Stadtplanung und den Aga Khan Award for Architecture für sein Lebenswerk.
