The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) is a research center with focus on the field of biomedicine in Dresden. It is part of the scientific unit Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) of the Technische Universität Dresden[1]. The research at the CRTD concentrates on the principles of cell and tissue regeneration. By gaining and providing a deeper understanding of regenerative processes, the CRTD researchers intend to establish a basis for new diagnostics and therapies for human diseases. The connection between basic research and clinical practice therefore plays an important role at the CRTD. (Before the takeover by the TU Dresden and the Free State of Saxony, the CRTD was a research center of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and a Cluster of Excellence).
