Florian Orley is a professional snowboarding freerider and multisport athlete from Austria. Born on october 13th 1975 in the two times olympic city of Innsbruck he has been among the top competitors of the world in freeriding since the year 2000, winning multiple international freeride competitions and Freeride World Tour events, his carrer peaking as vice world champion in 2011 and 2016.

He doubled Vin Diesel in the Hollywood Action Thriller „Triple xXx“ and Salman Khan in the Bollywood Action Thriller "Tiger Zinda Hai" Throughout his carreer he has been around the world to have his freeriding captured in a lot of snowboard freeride sports movies, doing many first descents from Alaska to New Zealand.

Aside from snowboarding, Orley ranks among the world`s top acrobatic hanggliders, participating in aerobatic competitions and producing several action filled videos, amongst others winning the „Nissan Outdoor Games“ video competition in Chamonix in 2009.

From 2009 to 2010 he took a 15 month long timeout from his snowboard carrer to buy a 35 ft catamaran in the carribean sea and from there crossed the South Pacific with his later wife Nina Orley whom married in 2011.

His aggressive descents on a snowboard as well as his approaches to B.A.S.E. jumping, hanggliding and – unusual for an Austrian – surfing have gained him a reputation as an athlete without nerves.

Orley has finished his studies at the University of Innsbruck to obtain a master`s degree in sports management in 2005. Furthermore, he holds licenses as snowboarding guide and as a tandem pilot for hanggliding and paragliding. In 2014 his book „Die Lust am Risiko: Warum Extremsportler ihr Leben für den Sport riskieren.” was released, analysing the trend towards risky sports in our society.

He lives in his hometown Innsbruck with his wife Nina and his two kids born 2011 and 2012. He runs the „Freeride Center Austria“ there and continued to compete on the Freeride World Tour until 2017.

2018 he starts with his family a circumnavigation on a 45 ft sailing catmaran, which is planed to last until 2024.
