The root confifts of long tumid fibres, crowndat the top with the dry brilliy remains of de-cayd leaves. The llalk is about a cubit high, of the fize of acrow quill, eredt, and towards the top fparinglybranchd, furniflid with only two or three dif-tant leaves. The radical leaves are fix inches long, linear,and undivided, apparently furrounded withnumerous whirls of capillary foliola, about aquarter of an inch in length. Striftly fpeak-ing however, thefe whirls are composd onlyof oppofite and feffile pinnules, embracing acommon rib at their bafe, and divided deeplyinto acute capillary fegments. The common umbel confifts of eight or ten rays,the partial ones of about double that number,their difc nearly plane.
