English: The destruction of the Regensburg synagogue in 1519 and the concurrent expulsion of the city's Jews, here depicted in a rococo ceiling fresco painted in 1758 as part of a larger cycle by Gottfried Bernhard Göz for the southern nave aisle of the Parish Church St. Cassian of Imola in Regensburg. Ratisbona, an allegorical figure representing Regensburg who bears on her head the "keys to the kingdom" of St. Peter, stands with her right foot planted triumphantly on the Jews. She enjoys the protection of "Beautiful Mary", placed above her on a pillar inscribed with the date MDXIX (1519). The painting suggests that the destruction of Regensburg's synagogue (shown to the right) and the expulsion of the Jews (on the left) served the Blessed Mother of God. In addition, the blood libel is depicted at the bottom of the paintingː five children are supposed to be victims of Jewish ritual murder.
