da hat jemand diese ?US-amerikanische? Daten-Schreibweise falsch missverstanden bzw. verdreht: 1948/10/09

wo steht: October 9 was the birthday of David Samuels – one of the greatest vibraphone-players in jazz history. I feel lucky having met David and his long-time Duo partner David Friedman personally early in my musical career, to this day an unparalleled inspirational initiation. Please check out the earliest recording (to my knowledge) of this duo that changed the course of the history of mallet instruments in my humble opinion (this is David Friedman’s record, who can be heard playing with a few different musical guests aside from Samuels): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlryFuWAuTY Dave Samuels had only been playing mallets a few years at this point, mostly self-taught to my knowledge. Aside from technique, dynamics, touch and ideas his timing is just out of this world! David lit up any of the musical contexts he participated in with his fresh sound and approach. Due to being stricken by Alzheimer’s disease Dave Samuels is not playing anymore – an incredible loss to the musical community. But he is a valuable and well-documented part of musical history, one I frequently look to for inspiration. Happy birthday, David!
