Aus welcher Sprache stammt das Wort Masala?[Quelltext bearbeiten]
Eigentlich sollte in dem Artikel stehen, aus welcher Sprache das Wort stammt. Devanagari ist keine Sprache, sondern eine Schrift (siehe Wikipedia). Hier mal ein Vorschlag aus einem Hindi-Wörterbuch: मसाला masālā 1. mc spices [ख़ुशबुदार fragrant, तीखा pungent, ताज़ा fresh]; ~ डालना to season with --; ~ बनाना to mix --. 2. mu material: पकाने (भवन, निर्माण, खोज) का ~ cooking (building, research) --; ~ इकठ्ठा करना to collect --. Mehr erfährt man über Panjabi (wird aber nicht in Devanagari geschrieben): MASÁLÁ ਮਸਾਲਾ s. m. Corrupted from the Arabic word Masálah. Spice, condiments, seasoning; material, the substance of which anything is made:—masále dár, a. Seasoned with spicea:—masálá páuṉá, v. a. To season. (Singh, Maya. The Panjabi dictionary. Lahore: Munshi Gulab Singh & Sons, 1895, p. 732). Als nächster Schritt wäre nun das korrekte Wort im Arabischen zu finden und seine Geschichte in Südasien zu erzählen.
