Das Goemai ist eine tschadische Sprache (afroasiatisch, westtschadisch A), die im Bundesstaat Plateau in Zentralnigeria von insgesamt 200.000 Personen gesprochen wird.[1]
Seine Sprecher bezeichnen sich und ihre Sprache selbst als 'Goemai'; in der älteren linguistischen und ethnografischen Literatur wurde der Begriff 'Ankwe' verwendet, um das Volk und deren Sprache zu bezeichnen.
Goemai ist eine vorherrschend isolierende Sprache mit der Wortstellung Subjekt-Verb-Objekt.
