Moon Martin

Moon Martin (eigentlich John David Martin, * 31. Oktober 1950 in Oklahoma) ist ein US-amerikanischer Sänger und Songwriter.

Seine Karriere begann Martin als Rockabilly-Musiker. Heute ist er vor allem als Komponist und Texter der Songs „Bad Case of Lovin’ You (Doctor, Doctor)“, gesungen von Robert Palmer, und „Cadillac Walk“, gesungen von Willy DeVille, bekannt. Zu seinen eigenen, bekannten Liedern zählt insbesondere Bad News. Er hatte zwei kleinere Hits mit den Songs Rolene 1979 und X-Ray Vision 1982.

In den 1970er Jahren erlangte Martin Bekanntheit als Pop-Sänger und Komponist. Moon Martin erhielt seinen Spitznamen kurz nach der Trennung von der Band „Southwind“, als er bei Tag arbeitete und nachts im Mondschein textete und komponierte, aber auch weil der Himmelskörper oft literarischer Gegenstand in seinen Songtexten war, wie er selbst in einem Interview mit dem Musikexpress erzählte.
