Remember Me ist ein für Lee Unkrichs Animationsfilm Coco – Lebendiger als das Leben! geschriebener Song von Kristen Anderson-Lopez und Robert Lopez.

Produktion[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]

Remember Me is the signature song for beloved performer Ernesto de la Cruz in the movie. "Das Lied ist aus dem Blickwinkel / der Perspektive einer Person geschrieben, die hofft, von einem geliebten Menschen nicht vergessen zu werden", sagte Anderson-Lopez. "Aber die Worte können je nach Tempo und Klang der Musik unterschiedlich interpretiert werden." / "The song is from the point of view of a person hoping to be remembered by a loved one," said Anderson-Lopez. "But the lyric can be interpreted a few different ways depending on the tempo and tone of the music."[1]

from Disney/Pixar film Coco. It is ranchero-style song (a homage to the Mexican Corrido style folk ballad of the twenties and thirties) sung by Ernesto de la Cruz.

Film und Lyrics[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]

Despite his family's baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto De La Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Héctor (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.

Rezeption[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]

David Ehrlich meint: "The finale underscores the feeling that the film doesn’t really add up, and it doesn’t help that de la Cruz’s signature song, “Remember Me,” is an eminently forgettable ballad. But by that point, your eyes will be too drunk on visual splendor for your ears to notice."[2]

Michael Rechtshaffen: Equally affecting is the film’s musical palette, with resident Disney-Pixar composer Michael Giacchino delivering yet another stirring score that blends seamlessly with traditional source music and tunes contributed by Molina and Germaine Franco, all topped off with the film’s soulful signature song, “Remember Me,” penned by Frozen twosome Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.[3]
