What is incorrect on this page? --Ephraim33 (Diskussion) 17:45, 18. Nov. 2014 (CET)Beantworten

The actual content is incorrect. In short, Professor Osgood does not do what the article states. There are a lot of minor mistakes regarding his life. Information was used without any consent. A scientist like Prof. Osgood shoudl not be misrepresented like this. Can you please continue in English? (nicht signierter Beitrag von Svetik77722 (Diskussion | Beiträge) 18. Nov. 2014, 17:59:12)

Minor mistakes are no reason for speedy deletion. Say what is wrong and it will be corrected. --Ephraim33 (Diskussion) 14:29, 19. Nov. 2014 (CET)Beantworten

Professor asked me to create a new page that will contain no mistakes. Is currently under review. Please let me know what has to be done for an option different from the speedy one. Professor would like to persue full delition of the page. It is a complete represresentation of his achievements an insault of his peublic image. Thank you for your help. I have seen your draft in the English Wikipedia (en:Draft:Richard M. Osgood, Jr.). But if there is an article in the English Wikipedia and the old German one is deleted, there is still no article in the German Wikipedia. Other options include an ordinary deletion request (use {{subst:Löschantrag|1=''your reason for deletion'' --~~~~}} in the article and add == [[Richard M. Osgood]] == for the caption as well as ''your reason for deletion'' --~~~~ on Wikipedia:Löschkandidaten/heute). But the article will not be deleted, if you don't say what is wrong. And if you say what is wrong, someone will correct it and the article will not be deleted either. And still another option: complete the English article and translate it to German. --Ephraim33 (Diskussion) 16:39, 19. Nov. 2014 (CET)Beantworten

I have corrected everything. The section I cannot figure out how to fix is the very firs paragraph. Please substitute it for the following:

Richard Magee Osgood Junior (* 28.

Please let me know if/when you will confirm the edits. Thanks! (nicht signierter Beitrag von Svetik77722 (Diskussion | Beiträge) 4. Dez. 2014, 21:18:45‎)

Edit the first paragraph

Thanks a lot for your corrections. Your edits were already confirmed. You can edit the first paragraph by clicking "Bearbeiten" just above the caption. --Ephraim33 (Diskussion) 21:19, 5. Dez. 2014 (CET)Beantworten

Thank you! Already did. Do you know when the English page will be approved? I want to connect GER and ENG pages. (nicht signierter Beitrag von Svetik77722 (Diskussion | Beiträge) 9. Dez. 2014, 19:36:56‎)

According to en:Wikipedia:Drafts#Publishing_a_draft you can move the article to Main (article) Namespace if you think it is ready. Or you can ask for it at en:Wikipedia:Requested moves. Then you can connect both articles. --Ephraim33 (Diskussion) 19:52, 9. Dez. 2014 (CET)Beantworten

Is this what you mean? (nicht signierter Beitrag von Svetik77722 (Diskussion | Beiträge) 9. Dez. 2014, 19:58:41‎)

Hi there, can you please explain to me how is it possible that the German page got approved with very little information about Professor Osgood http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_M._Osgood

while the English one got regected since an editor does not consider Porf. Osgood notable enough. There seems to be a huge inconsistency in place.

Please let me know what can be done about this

There are different criteria to decide the notability of academics in the German and the English Wikipedia. German: Wikipedia:Relevanzkriterien#Wissenschaftler: Full Professor of a notable University or a notable science Award or ... English: en:Wikipedia:Notability (academics): a named chair appointment or "Distinguished Professor" or ... According to your draft and his website he is Higgins Professor at Columbia University. So he meets the criteria of notability. I asked Hirolovesswords for his opinion, see en:User talk:Hirolovesswords. --Ephraim33 (Diskussion) 21:42, 17. Jan. 2015 (CET)Beantworten

Hirolovesswords answered on my English talk page en:User talk:Ephraim33#Draft:Richard M. Osgood, Jr. Now, the notability is ok. If you add (external) sources, “the submission is good to go”. For example <ref>Robert A. Doughty: Strength and Drive. The West Point Class of 1965. 2014, ISBN 978-1-4969-5732-0, [https://books.google.de/books?id=RWfrBQAAQBAJ&pg=PA260&dq=%22Samuel+Burka+Award%22+Osgood p. 260]</ref> for the “Samuel Burka Award of the US Avionics Laboratory”. Then you have an external source for the claim getting this award. Or <ref>[http://www.osa.org/en-us/awards_and_grants/awards/award_description/rwwood/ R. W. Wood Prize] on osa.org</ref> for the R. W. Wood Prize. I added these and some others to your draft. Please feel free to add some more for the crucial points. --Ephraim33 (Diskussion) 11:11, 19. Jan. 2015 (CET)Beantworten
