Beschreibung
English: Allá en el Rancho Grande ("Down there at the big ranch") is a traditional Mexican folksong, that was popularized on Texas ranches by Mexican cowhands and has since turned into a cowboy standard. It was published in 1931 by Frank Dobie in his collection Southwestern Lore and in 1934 by John A. Lomax and Alan Lomax in American Ballads and Folk Songs. In 1941 a request for summary judgment by Silvano D. Ramos, who claimed authorship of the song, was rejected by a court, for more information visit the UCLA LAW & Columbia Law School Copyright Infringement Projekt.
With additional English lyrics it became a hit for both Bing Crosby and Gene Autry in 1939 and 1940. This Spanish language version was sung by Tito Guizar in his 1936 movie of the same title.

Public domain This file is in the public domain, because it is a recording based on a folkloric or traditional musical composition which has fallen out of copyright and any recording rights to this version have expired. In Germany, this recording right is called "Leistungsschutz" and lasts for 50 years from the date the work was created. For recordings from Italy, see Template:PD-Italy-audio. Other countries may have differing legislation.

In the United States the term of protection for sound recordings published before January 1, 1924 has expired (See Template:PD-US-record). Works of foreign (non-U.S.) origin must be out of copyright or freely licensed in both their home country and in the United States in order to be accepted on Commons.

This sound recording was first fixed prior to February 15, 1972. Under Title II (Classics Protection and Access) of the Orrin G. Hatch–Bob Goodlatte Music Modernization Act, which was signed into law on October 11, 2018, sound recordings that were first fixed prior to February 15, 1972 are protected from unauthorized use in the United States as follows:
  • Recordings that were first published prior to 1924 are in the public domain.
  • Recordings that were first published between 1924 and 1946 are copyrighted for a period of 100 years after first publication.
  • Recordings that were first published between 1947 and 1956 are copyrighted for a period of 110 years after first publication.
  • Recordings that were published after 1956 and first fixed prior to February 15, 1972 will enter the public domain on February 15, 2067.

Note that sound recordings that were first fixed prior to February 15, 1972 are a special case under US copyright law and are not subject to the same formalities as other works. In particular, the terms of protection given above for pre-1972 recordings apply regardless of whether a recording was published with a copyright notice, or whether a recording was registered with the US Copyright Office, or whether a recording's rights were renewed. Files bearing this tag may be deleted in the future, depending on the outcome of community discussions and new case law. If you are the rights holder of this sound recording and do not wish to have it hosted on Commons, please contact our designated agent.
