You may wish to check Tristan und Isolde (in English und -> and) the opera as it is mentioned there, and the quote is in the English Wikipedia. I had trouble translating it from the German, first because I don't speak German, second to make it rhyme and scan in English. The bars and references are given there.

Laut Boethius sei die Sambuca bei Parthern, Syrern und Troglodyten in Gebrauch gewesen.
Das ist falsch. Bei Boethius gibt es sambuca (sambica) nicht — weder der Terminus noch die Beschreibung. A.a.O. (S.183) Paul zählt sambuca unter anderen altgriechischen Instrumenten auf und verweist dabei auf Atheneus (XIV,34). Olorulus (Diskussion) 10:58, 13. Apr. 2012 (CEST)
