- ."Con" in Conair stood for "Consolidated". And although they landed their last Boeing 720B at Kastrup before Christmas (Weinacht) 1987, was Air Malta much later, as they flew home a Boeing 720 or 720B (the engines differed) from Beirut, Lebanon in 2003. During the civil air in Lebanon had lots of airworthy aircraft been destroyed at Beirut's airport. After the war it was discovered that among the undamaged aircraft was a Boeing 720 from Air Malta. I don't know when it became possible to fly this aircraft back to Malta (it was presumably difficult to find a crew who could fly it) But in 2003 it was flewn from Beirut back to Malta, which is European territory after all.
