Widersprüchliche Angaben

Im Artikel steht: „In Bahrain waren homosexuelle Handlungen seit der Einführung des britischen Kolonialrechts im Jahre 1956 verboten. [1]. Unabhängig vom Geschlecht wurden homosexuelle Handlungen mit Gefängnis bestraft. 1976 wurde das Strafgesetzbuch in Bahrain neu gefasst. Eine ausdrückliche Verbotsnorm gegen homosexuelle Handlungen gibt es nicht mehr.[2] Gleichwohl werden weiter „Gummiparagraphen“ zur Verhängung von Haftstrafen angewandt.[3]“

Während queer.de keine verwendbare Quelle ist, wird im ILGA-Report 2009 nichts von irgendwelchen „Gummiparagraphen“ gesagt, dort heisst es nur „A new Penal Code was enacted in 1976 and this repealed the old Penal Code of the Persian Gulf imposed by the British. Contrary to the previous second-hand source used in the report the Penal Code allows sodomy from the age of 21, and therefore sodomy was decriminalised as of adoption of the new code.“ und Bahrain wird unter „Homosexual acts legal“ eingeordnet.

Dem gegenüber steht Brian Whitaker: Unspeakable Love: Gay and Lesbian Life in the Middle East. University of California Press, 2006, ISBN 0520250176: „the maximum penalty for sodomy in Bahrain is ten years' imprisonment“ (S. 123); Arno Schmitt, Jehoeda Sofer: Sexuality and eroticism among males in Moslem societies. New York 1991, ISBN 1560240474:„The Indian Penal Code was replaced in 1956 by a new Penal Code. Article 171 made 'unnatural sex offences' punishable with imprisonment not exceeding 10 years, with or without corporal punishment. This Code remained in force after independence.“ Sodomylaws.org zitiert ebenfalls Schmitt/Sofer und dazu „The 3rd Pink Book states that "Homosexuality is illegal. Islamic laws against homosexuality are applied".“ sowie „The Interpol website states that: "Buggery is illegal act punished by 10 years of imprisonment maximum. When the victim is under 14 years of age buggery is punishable even with the consent of the victim."
