Saliha Sultan (* 16. Juni 1811 in Istanbul; † 6. Februar 1843 ebenda) war eine osmanische Prinzessin und Halbschwester von Abdülmecid I. and Abdülaziz.
Leben
[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]Saliha Sultan wurde 1811 im Topkapı-Palast als Tochter des Sultans Mahmud II. und Aşubcan Kadın geboren.Vorlage:SfnVorlage:Sfn Im Jahr 1834 arrangierte ihr Vater eine Hochzeit mit Damat Gürcü Halil Rifat Pascha. Das Paar heiratete am 24. Mai 1834 in einem Palast in Beşiktaş. Die Brautprozession von Saliha Sultan verließ diesen Palast am Donnerstag und brachte die Braut zum Fındıklı-Palast.Vorlage:Sfn Die Damen des Hochzeitszuges fuhren in mit Sternen geschmückten Kutschen und Kutschen.Vorlage:Sfn Julia Pardoe, who observed the marriage from a caique on the Bosphorus noted the illumination of the waterfront palace of Esma Sultan. The wedding ceremony was covered in the first official Ottoman newspaper Takvim-i Vekayi.[1] Saliha Sultan's beachfront palace and Tophane and Beşiktaş palace were flooded by rafts and boats, various descriptions were put on the rafts, and small ships, fish paintings, small cars and castles were built. The couple owned the Neşatabad Palace located in Ortaköy Defterdarburnu and the Fındıklı Palace.Vorlage:Sfn
The two together had one son named Sultanzade Abdul Hamid Bey, born on 22 March 1835, who died young in 1837.[2][3][4]
Death
