  • Cersei - is a tool designed for importing or scraping data from various third-party sources, using source-specific Python code. It can use a "headless browser" to scrape complicated websites that rely on eg JavaScript to navigate. It can therefore access data sources that can not be accessed via eg Mix'n'match. The data from sources can be updated regularly, either for everything, or just changed entries (if the source has a "recent changes" equivalent).
  • Wikidata:Zotero/Cita - is a Wikidata addon for Zotero that adds citations (i.e., what other items an item cites) metadata support to this open source reference management software, using cites work (P2860) information available from Wikidata, and enabling users to easily contribute missing data.

• IP Masking: We are continuing to adapt Wikibase to the upcoming IP Masking feature. We worked on hiding warnings about IP addresses being saved when they don’t apply (phab:T353807, phab:T352006) and creating temporary accounts when editing (phab:T354730)
• Wikibase REST API:
  • We continued working on the ability to get a sitelink for a given site (phab:T344039)
  • We started working on the ability to remove a sitelink for a given wiki (phab:T344685)
  • We worked on fixing a bug where the REST API PUT request does not handle statement on Items with lowercase statement IDs (phab:T352644)

• Die Erweiterung Strukturierte Diskussionen (auch bekannt als Flow) wird allmählich entfernt. Diese Erweiterung wird nicht mehr gewartet und verursacht Probleme. Sie wird durch Diskussionswerkzeuge ersetzt, die auf jeder regulären Diskussionsseite verwendet werden. Eine erste Gruppe von Wikis wird kontaktiert. Diese Wikis werden aufgefordert, Flow nicht mehr zu verwenden und alle Flow-Boards als Archive auf Unterseiten zu verschieben. In diesen Wikis verschiebt ein Skript ab dem 22. Oktober 2024 automatisch alle Flow-Seiten, die keine Unterseiten sind, auf eine Unterseite. Am 28. Oktober 2024 werden alle Flow-Boards in diesen Wikis in den Lese-Modus versetzt. [1][2]
• Das Suchplattform-Team der WMF arbeitet daran, es den Lesern zu erleichtern, Textsuchen in ihrer Sprache durchzuführen. Eine Änderung in der letzte Woche an über 30 Sprachen erleichtert das Auffinden von Wörtern mit Akzenten und anderen diakritischen Zeichen. • Das Team Mobile Apps hat ein Update für die Navigation der iOS-App veröffentlicht, das nun in der neuesten Version des App Stores verfügbar ist. • Stewards können nun Autoblocks für globale Kontosperren aktivieren. Dies hilft Stewards dabei, Missbrauch durch Benutzer zu verhindern, die global gesperrt wurden. • Wikis, in denen die CampaignEvents-Erweiterung aktiviert ist, können jetzt die Funktion Kollaborationsliste verwenden. Diese Liste bietet Beitragenden eine neue, einfache Möglichkeit, sich über WikiProjekte in ihren Wikis zu informieren. Vielen Dank an das Campaign-Team für diese Arbeit, die Teil des Jahresplans 2024/25 ist. Wenn du daran interessiert bist, die CampaignEvents-Erweiterung in deinem Wiki zu aktivieren, kannst du diese Schritte befolgen oder dich an Benutzer:Udehb-WMF wenden, um Hilfe zu erhalten.
• Die Textfarbe für Rotlinks wird im Laufe dieser Woche leicht geändert, um ihren Kontrast im hellen Modus zu verbessern. [20]
• Sieh dir alle 32 von der Community eingereichten Tasks an, die letzte Woche gelöst wurden. Beispielsweise können Benutzer in mehrsprachigen Wikis jetzt Übersetzungen auf der Spezialseite Links auf diese Seite ausblenden.

• XML-Datendumps wurden vorübergehend pausiert, während ein Fehler untersucht wird. [21]

• Temporäre Konten wurden in sechs Wikis eingeführt. Wir danken dem Produktteam Trust and Safety für diese Arbeit, du kannst dir die Einführungspläne ansehen. Ab nächster Woche werden temporäre Konten auch für sieben weitere Projekte aktiviert. • Die MediaWiki Users and Developers Conference Herbst 2024 findet vom 4. bis 6. November 2024 in Wien, Österreich und online statt. Auf der Konferenz werden Diskussionen rund um die Nutzung der MediaWiki-Software durch und in Unternehmen verschiedener Branchen geführt und neue Benutzer inspiriert und aufgenommen.
