Carrie Hope Fletcher (* 22. Oktober 1992 in South Harrow, London, England) ist eine britische Sängerin, (Musical-)Schauspielerin, Songwriterin, Autorin und Vloggerin.

Als Kind erhielt Fletcher bereits kleine Fernsehrollen und schaffte schon früh den Sprung ins die europäische Theaterhochburg des Londoner West End. Im März 2011 gründete sie den YouTube-Kanal ItsWayPastMyBedTime (etwa ich sollte schon längst im Bett sein / es ist schon lange Schlafenszeit), den sie 2017 in Carrie Hope Fletcher umbenannte.[1] Auf der Videoplattform stellt sie ihre Musik und Bücher vor und präsentiert regelmäßig Vlogs. In diesen beantwortet sie Fragen ihrer Zuschauer und spricht ansonsten hauptsächlich über den Arbeitsalltag am professionellen Theater, ihre Rollen und Begegnungen. Ihr YouTube-Kanal hat etwa 650.000 Abonnenten und wurde seit der Gründung über 114,5 Millionen Mal aufgerufen.[2] Auch in anderen sozialen Medien, hauptsächlich auf Instagram, ist sie regelmäßig aktiv und beantwortet die Fragen ihrer Fans.

Fletcher spielte im West End unter anderem die Éponine in mehreren Inszenierungen von Les Misérables.[3] In der Rolle der jungen Éponine hatte sie 2001 ihre ersten West-End-Auftritte, später wurde die Hauptfigur der erwachsenen Éponine zu ihrer bekanntesten Rolle, zuletzt stellte sie sie im November und Dezember 2016 gar als Gastdarstellerin in Dubai dar.

2015 erschien ihr Buch All I Know Now: Wonderings and Reflections on Growing Up Gracefully, welches im Vereinigten Königreich die Spitze der Bestsellerliste eroberte. Ihr Romandebüt On the Other Side wurde am 14. Juli 2016 veröffentlicht. Am 13. Juli 2017 folgte ihr zweiter Roman All That She Can See, am 12. Juli 2018 der dritte: When The Curtain Falls. Ihre drei Romane wurden ebenfalls zu Bestsellern.

Kindheit und Familie
Fletcher wuchs im Londoner Stadtteil South Harrow als Tochter von Debbie und Bob Fletcher auf.[4] Ihr älterer Bruder ist der Kinderbuchautor und Musiker Thomas Michael „Tom“ Fletcher – der Leadsänger, Gitarrist und Komponist der englischen Band McFly und zeitweises Mitglied der Supergroup McBusted (gemeinsame Tournee der Bands McFly und Busted 2013–2015). Carrie Fletchers Schwägerin Giovanna ist ebenfalls Romanautorin und Vloggerin.

Erste Erfahrungen in der Schauspielerei sammelte Fletcher 1997 im Alter von gerade fünf Jahren, als sie in einem Senderclip der privaten Fernsehanstalt Channel 4 auftrat. Einige Zeit darauf wirkte sie in einem Werbefilm für Honey Nut Cheerios mit – an der Seite des mehrfachen Emmy- und Golden-Globe-Gewinners Kelsey Grammer (Frasier; Finding Neverland: A Broadway Musical). Fletcher hatte zudem eine Reihe von Fernsehauftritten, hauptsächlich spielte sie in Kinderserien wie Dog and Duck (als Jenny, auf CITV).

Theaterlaufbahn
Fletcher feierte bereits mit sieben Jahren ihr West-End-Debüt als Kleine Eponine in einer Inszenierung von Les Misérables (2001). Im Jahr darauf war sie in der Rolle der Jemima Potts Teil der ursprünglichen Besetzung von Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. 2004 erhielt sie die Rolle der Jane Banks in Mary Poppins.

Fletcher replaced Danielle Hope as Éponine in Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre, London in June 2013. She is the only British actor to play both young Éponine and older Éponine[5] in the production. On 23 February 2014, Fletcher was presented the WhatsOnStage "Best Takeover In A Role" award for her role as Éponine.[6]

In November 2014, Fletcher took a hiatus from her role in Les Misérables to join the cast of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds national arena tour in which she played the role of Beth, alongside Jason Donovan, Brian McFadden and Shayne Ward. She received critical acclaim for her performance as Beth, the Parson’s wife.[7][8]

Following The War of the Worlds Tour, Fletcher returned over to Les Misérables. She played the role for the musical's 30th Anniversary gala performance on 8 October 2015. Fletcher played her final performance as Eponine on 13 February 2016 and was replaced by Danielle Hope (whom Fletcher succeeded from joining the show). At the time of her departure, she became the longest running Eponine in the London Production's 30 Year history.

On 10 March 2016, Fletcher revealed that as of 4 May she would be rejoining the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to play Truly Scrumptious, for a UK tour. As previously mentioned, Fletcher was in the original cast when she was nine playing the role of Jemima Potts. Fletcher has been noted as saying she was 'honoured' to be back with this production. Fletcher played her final performance as Truly Scrumptious on 2 October 2016.

Following this, Fletcher announced that she would be playing Eponine in the Dubai production of Les Misérables for one month. Fletcher starred in the 2016 UK production of A Christmas Carol as Emily. The show was with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, starred Robert Lindsay as Scrooge and was produced by James Yeoburn and Stuart Matthew Price for United Theatrical, directed by Shaun Kerrison and conducted by Freddie Tapner.

In 2017, she played the role of Wednesday Addams on the UK tour of the musical production of The Addams Family. The production starred Samantha Womack and Les Dennis and was again produced by James Yeoburn and Stuart Matthew Price for United Theatrical, Katy Lipson for Area Entertainment and Music & Lyrics in association with Festival Theatre, Edinburgh [9]

In December 2017, she performed in the musical production of The Christmasaurus. The production starred Tom Fletcher, Giovanna Fletcher, Harry Judd and Matt Willis.[10]

In February 2018, it was announced that Fletcher would reprise her role as Beth in the 40th anniversary tour of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, alongside Jason Donovan, who is reprising his role as Parson Nathaniel.[11]

On 12 April 2018, Fletcher announced that she would be playing the leading role of Veronica Sawyer in Heathers: The Musical at The Other Palace in London from 9 June – 4 August 2018. The production will transfer to the West End at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 3 September – 24 November 2018.

Gesangskarriere
Fletcher has produced two singles, "Running Through Rivers" and "The Way We Were" which are both available for download from iTunes. She performed to benefit Sheytoons at the St. James Theater, as well as Ramin Karimloo on his 2012 "Road To Find Out" tour.[12] In 2012, she performed the official 2012 Summer Olympics song with her brother, Tom.

Fletcher is featured in Alex Day’s 2013 album Epigrams and Interludes on the songs covering "Poison" and "This Kiss". Fletcher can also be seen in The Vamps' music video for their cover of McFly's "That Girl". In 2014, Fletcher had featured in Daniel Koek's album High in the song "Remember Me".[13] Koek was a colleague and fellow cast member of Fletcher's in Les Misérables.

Her most successful video on YouTube, currently with 1.3 million views (as of 12 October 2017), is a live interpretation together with her brother Tom Fletcher of the McFly song: "Love is on the Radio".[14]

Fletcher released her first solo album When The Curtain Falls on 30 March 2018. It was released via Musical Theatre concert and record producers Club 11 London, and accompanied her first 4 solo concerts at Cadogan Hall, London on 31 March and 1 April 2018.[15]

Autorenschaft
In April 2015, Fletcher released her first book, All I Know Now: Wonderings and Reflections on Growing Up Gracefully, based on her blog of the same name. The non-fiction book focuses on stages of Fletcher’s life as a teenager and passes on life lessons and advice through highlighting her own mistakes and struggles as she grew up. Her book was a number one Sunday Times bestseller and remained in the top ten list for seven weeks.[16]

In June 2015, Fletcher officially announced that she had started writing a new fiction novel, titled On The Other Side, which was published 14 July 2016. In March 2017, Fletcher announced her second novel All That She Can See, which was published 13 July 2017.[17]

In October 2017, her third novel, When the Curtain Falls, was announced with a publication date of 12 July 2018.[18]
