„Marie Curie is one of the most famous women in science. But her first page on Wikipedia was shared with her husband — until someone pointed out that, perhaps, her scientific contributions were notable enough to warrant her own biography.“ - Jess Wade & Maryam Zaringhalam, 500 Women Scientists

Please join us to add, edit, and translate Wikipedia pages of notable women scientists. We will have food, drinks, and a wikipedia editor on site to guide the process for a fun and successful event! Please bring your own laptop.

For more information: https://500womenscientists.org/wiki-edit-a-thon

Note: This is a event for people living in Germany but editing in various language versions of Wikipedia.

Event on 12 December 2019 18:00 to 22:00[Quelltext bearbeiten]

When you start a new article please first add it to the list „Articles in progress“ (or ask somebody to add it). Please don't forget to add your user name and the language version of Wikipedia. The purpose of this list is that experienced editors can help you with it.

Online meeting[Quelltext bearbeiten]

The online helpers try to support the participants which are distributed allover Germany. For this either communicate via your discussion page. The other way is to communicate via Freenode IRC (only up to 10 p.m. on 12 December).

Communication via Freenode webchat[Quelltext bearbeiten]

During the edit-a-thon we will use a Freenode chat for communication between online helpers and edit-a-thon participants. For this please join the chat at 6 p.m.:

  1. Call Freenode.
  2. Enter your Wikipedia user name (without Umlauts), no password, channel #500ws-de, "no robot" and click Start.

Within the channel participants can ask questions or ask for help:

  • to add their new draft page to the list of "Articles in progress"
  • for checking notability (Relevanzcheck)
  • for support with their articles
  • for help creating their Wikipedia accounts
  • ...

The channel is for articles in all language versions of Wikipedia. However, it might be that there are no experienced Wikipedians to help with some language versions. We try our best.

Please use English or German in the channel only.

If 2 people want to have a bilateral chat then one of them types "/query username" to invite the other.

Do not share private information in these chats!
