PostEdit bugs

Where should we post bug reports about the new “saved” popup? There is no PostEdit extension at Bugzilla. --TMg 22:39, 19. Okt. 2012 (CEST)

Thanks. Currently I would post three bugs, all described in Wikipedia:Fragen zur Wikipedia#Kleine Neuerung: Hinweis „Deine Bearbeitung wurde gespeichert.“:

1. The popup blocks the “View history” link. I consider this an important bug because it makes the software less usable.
2. In some cases (when going back in the browser history, depending on the browser) the popup is displayed multiple times.
3. I consider the “wrong” design a bug. It should use the design of the watchlist popups. And similar to the watchlist popups the design should change with the skin. Why not simply reuse the existing code? Whats wrong with it?

I didn't see anything on the thread about displaying multiple times for single edits, but that is definitely a bug to fix soon if we can replicate it. On point one: an overlay like this is going to always obscure some content. But it's extremely temporary and dismissable, and was deployed based on user testing that demonstrated a positive difference for those new to editing. As for the design: the code that produces the watchlist notice is extremely rough, and not well-suited to delivering other notifications. For instance, it does not support icons or dismiss buttons. I think you missed the point. Allow me to show you the hidden element we are talking about. There are a lot of possibilities to solve this. A very simple one is as follows.

Displaying the popup multiple times is simple: Use the Opera web browser. Edit a page. The popup is displayed. Click a link. Go back. The popup is shown again. --TMg 00:52, 20. Okt. 2012 (CEST)

Ah! Gotcha. Can you file a bug about the first issue (the hidden element)? I'll replicate and report on the multiple display on 'Back', which is occurring for English Wikipedians as well. Opera is a bit different when you use the back button. I can live with the duplicate popup. But maybe there is a good solution to fix this (without forcing a reload, please don't do this). --TMg 01:15, 20. Okt. 2012 (CEST)

To remove it for yourself and continue using Vector, simply update your personal CSS file with the code that community members have made to go back to the old style. It's in the FAQ in the section about opting out. The local community here is also able to make a gadget, if you want, to make it easier to just behave like a preference. i did it yet. but why the comunity has to fix it? WMF made a not necesarry change without asking de:wp community, than you reverting the change here on common.css, wich obviously is the most easy way to keep the old style for de:wp. and than you say we should fix a problem wich you (WMF) made? did you get it? its not the change itself, its the way wmf/you is acting. did you remember visualeditor as default? this is not the same, but its the same acting. --Wetterwolke (Diskussion) 01:41, 4. by the way, you know that the FAQ is in eglish? this is a wiki in german, not everyone knows english. why cant WMF translate pages like that?

Yeah I am sorry for that. We try to get translations for the German version but there is so much translation to do that not always do translators get to it. About the change: we didn't ask beforehand because this was a change across all sites, to the default for everyone. We tried our best to get feedback from all wikis, and to make sure the beta is available everywhere to try and get feedback. Webfonts?

Hi Steven! I think the main reason for the outcry concering the new typography is, that just few people have Linux Libertine and Liberation Sans installed on their machine. Most users don't see this intended fonts, but some other font from the selection in the stylesheet or (what is even worse) a mixture of different Fonts.

While the Browser may be responsable for the antialiasing, the avialability of local fonts varies form system to system.

For me e.g. the Headlines were displayed in Georgia, which is a lot more massiv than Linux Libertine, while the BodyCopy was in a Mixture of Arimo an Helvetica with really bad antialiasing (for what ever reason). Now, after I uninstalled Arimo and installed the correct Liberation Sans, Linux Libertine-fonts everthing looks fine. But this honestly isn't a solution for the mass of the users.

Is there any reason for not using Webfonts. ...which would solve that problem? --Martin K. (Diskussion) 11:25, 4. Apr. 2014 (CEST)
